Antibiotic Resistance Awareness Course

Protect your clients and your business. Train staff to prevent antibiotic resistance, reduce infection risks, and deliver safe care that meets health standards and avoids costly consequences.

Resist misinformation on antibiotic resistance!

Antibiotic resistance can occur naturally, but due to our misuse of antibiotics, it is steadily becoming a huge problem in all parts of the world. According to CDC's 2019 Antibiotic Resistance (AR) Threats Report, more than 35,000 people die as a result of more than 2.8 million antibiotic-resistant infections each year in the US alone. Studies also show that by 2050, antibiotic-resistant infections can potentially kill 10 million people per year.

Antibiotic resistance is a serious problem for caregivers because infections caused by anti-resistant bacteria are increasing among elderly clients in-home care facilities. It has been found that pathogens that are resistant to multiple drugs or antibiotics are frequently found in-home care facilities. This can lead to higher medical costs, longer medical stays, and increased mortality in clients.

The Antibiotic Resistance Awareness Course provides caregivers with everything they need to know about antibiotic resistance, what causes it, and how to prevent and control it. Specifically, the course provides discussions on how antibiotic resistance occurs and where it can potentially occur, what you’re doing that can lead to antibiotic resistance, the core actions to prevent it, and what to do when an antibiotic no longer works. Lastly, caregivers will learn how they can help in preventing the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria while providing care for their clients.
